Rotherham United can confirm that the club has a received and accepted a bid from Blackpool that matches our valuation of forward Jerry Yates and have subsequently agreed a deal for his transfer.
The fee - that has been accepted by the Millers and will remain undisclosed - will mean that Yates’ long association with the club will come to an end as he departs for Bloomfield Road. The striker, now 23, is a product of the Rotherham United Academy setup which he joined at 15-years-old and graduated from after his impressive showings earned him a professional contract at AESSEAL New York Stadium.
With the club having spent the majority of the last five years competing in the Sky Bet Championship, Jerry has found first team opportunities hard to come by. However, his industrious approach has consistently been a key factor in bringing out the best of those selected ahead of him throughout his time with the club.
During his time as a Rotherham United player, he made loan switches to Harrogate Town, Carlisle United and more recently Swindon Town, where he enjoyed a prolific spell and earned promotion from Sky Bet League Two during the 2019/20 campaign.
Everyone at the club would like to wish Jerry all the best in his new challenge with Blackpool and thank him for his efforts during his time at Rotherham United.
