Rotherham Education Academy, the education strand for Rotherham United Community Sports Trust, will now be known as Rotherham United Sports College.

The name change, which will be effective beginning on January 31st 2020, will give the Trust a name that adequately reflects its growth as a provider of further education and higher education courses for young people pursuing careers in the sports industry.

“The name Rotherham United Sports College is going to showcase the breadth of our academic offer from Further Education courses to Higher Education courses as well as the growing number of students we’re seeing from the local area. It’s an exciting time for the Sports College and we are currently exploring opportunities to develop even more sports and education courses for the 2020/21 academic year” said Education Manager James Mahoney.

Based at the New York Stadium, the Sports College boasts state of the art classrooms and health space as well as having access to a range of practical facilities in the local area.

The various study programmes combine academic studies with a practical sporting experience and are aimed at young people who have a passion for sport and a desire to progress to University or employment within the sporting industry.

Students who enrol on to any of the courses have the unique opportunity to train and play various sports competitively on a weekly basis against other professional clubs and athletes.
