REPORT | Grimsby 1 v 3 Academy

11 February 2020

Rotherham United’s youngsters prevailed as they faced Grimsby Town for the second time in four days, this time recording a 3-1 win over the Mariners, having previously had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the reverse on Saturday.

Wilfred Peel-Evans’ brace with goals either side of Harrison Beeden’s effort ensured that it was Ciaran Toner’s men emerged victorious after a hotly-contested clash finished with honours even just days ago.

With Storm Ciara making its presence felt across the country, the two teams braved the conditions, which included sleet, wind and rain to play out this Youth Alliance League game, and the visitors will be pleased they did, as they turned in an assured performance to strengthen their position in the league table.

Millers | Farrar; Millen, Hull, Beeden, Smith; Hodgkinson, Spence, Peel-Evans, Scott; Kenny, Greaves.

Unused | Ellis, Gateshill, Hanley, Salah, Wenham.
