Rotherham United’s Sky Bet League One fixture against MK Dons marks the club’s ‘Kids Takeover Day’ and will see a number of pupils from local schools take up key roles around AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Working closely with Rotherham United Community Sports Trust, the Millers will offer up the chance for youngsters to occupy a number of jobs behind the scenes as we welcome the Dons.
The children will take up jobs around the club including positions in the Red and White Shop, hospitality lounges and media department, but will also get involved with first team duties as they assist grounds staff and the kit team in their matchday routines.
Following the success of this same initiative in last season’s hosting of Blackburn Rovers, Head of Community Jamie Noble is looking forward to once again giving local youngsters and up close and personal look at the club behind the scenes.
“It is fantastic to give the children a chance to see how the club works on a matchday and the feedback we received last year was brilliant and the kids all left with smiles on their faces,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.
“It presents the youngsters with a great insight into all of the work that goes in around the club to host a home football fixture, whilst offering them a chance get some practice in a field which may potentially interest them for their future careers.
“Furthermore, it reaffirms our commitment to being a club here to be enjoyed by all of the community and I am sure that we will have another really enjoyable day as part of the Kids Takeover Day initiative.”
The full range of jobs which will be shadowed on the day are as follows:
First Team Assistant
Chief Operating Officer
Control Room operative
Ticket Office/Club Shop staff
