READ | Millers support Safer Internet Day 2020

11 February 2020

Rotherham United Football Club and Rotherham United Community Sports Trust (RUCST) will once again be supporting Safer Internet day, today (Tuesday 11th February).

The theme continues from previous years as ‘together for a better internet’

Safer Internet Day aims to create both a safer and a better internet, where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.

The campaign aims to reach out to children and young people, parents and carers, teachers, educators and social workers, as well as industries, decision makers and politicians, to encourage everyone to play their part in creating a better internet.

By celebrating the positive power of the internet, the Safer Internet Day slogan of “Together for a better internet” encourages everyone to join the movement, to participate, and to make the most of the internet’s potential to bring people together.

Everyone has a responsibility to make a positive difference online. We can all promote that by being kind and respectful to others and by seeking out opportunities to create and connect.

We can all respond to the negative by reporting inappropriate or illegal content and behaviour online.

Head of Community Jamie Noble is proud to be supporting the initiative which aims to make the internet a safer space for users, and he wants to make sure people have a good experience whilst online.

“Here at Rotherham United we know the importance of ensuring that our supporters understand how to enjoy the internet safely, and we can only achieve this by working together," he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“Our aim is to make sure that our fans are well educated and are aware of how to conduct themselves when surfing the web, so we’re hoping that in supporting this fantastic campaign today we are able to unite to create a safer online environment.”
