Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are pleased to announce this coming school year has been the most successful year for numbers enrolled onto our education courses. This year we have 90 young learners enrolled onto our courses.
RUCST offer a range of courses from BTEC’s in Sport & active leisure, Sport performance and excellence. To foundation degrees in community football coaching and development or BSc (Hons) football coaching, development and administration. The learners on our courses split their time between our state-of-the-art classrooms and health spaces at the New York Stadium and our brand new Parkgate Astro facility.
The learners mix sports courses with playing football in 11-a-side and girls futsal leagues against other football league clubs, such as Leeds United, Sheffield United, Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield Wednesday. The learners train two days a week with matches taking place on a Wednesday afternoon.
Education Manager James Mahoney said “We are delighted with the number of learners we have had this year, it shows the reputation of RUFC’s educational courses are growing with many of our past learners progressing onto university or full time sporting employment. We boast top of the range facilities, at both the New York Stadium and the PGA where we have just had a new refurbishment and upgrade of our facilities there. Our staff value all of our learners and go above and beyond with anything they need to succeed so it is no surprise to us how successful we have been.”
