Rotherham United are delighted to confirm that Michael Ihiekwe has agreed a contract extension to keep him at the AESSEAL New York Stadium until the summer of 2022, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

The reliable defender joined the Millers from Tranmere Rovers prior to the promotion-winning 2017/18 Sky Bet League One campaign, and he has since gone on to become a key member of Paul Warne's squad.

Now 26 years of age, Ihiekwe has made 64 appearances in Rotherham colours and he has followed in the footsteps of Joe Mattock in putting pen to paper on a fresh deal in South Yorkshire.

Fresh from scoring his first goal of the season against Oxford United last weekend, the Liverpool-born defender is likely to feature on Wednesday night as the Millers travel to face Ipswich Town in Sky Bet League One.

Reaction from Ihiekwe and Millers assistant Richie Barker is available now HERE on iFollow Millers.
