Rotherham United’s youngsters fuelled their unbeaten start to the 2019/20 Youth Alliance League campaign with a 3-2 home cup win over Mansfield Town in their most recent outing.

Ciaran Toner’s side youngsters had the returning Jerome Greaves and Jacob Gratton to thank for their contributions in front of goal, which, added to a Mansfield player turning one into his own net saw them prevail at Roundwood.

The Academy are yet to find themselves on the wrong end of a scoreline in their league fixtures this season, having won three and drawn three and were boosted more good news as they added a cup victory to their resume.

The result against the Stags was made even more impressive by the fact that their opponents were on top of the Youth Alliance League table on the day of the game, albeit having played a game more.

The Millers were dealt a blow in this fixture however, as goalkeeper Charlie Farrar was forced off having broken a bone in his ankle after just 11 minutes.
