We were pleased to invite our number 15 Clark Robertson to Canklow Woods Primary School to meet the children who have been taking part in both the Move and Learn and Premier League Primary Stars projects this term. During the visit Clark went into each of the classes and answered questions about how he pursued his dream of being a professional footballer

Premier League Primary Stars is a dedicated literacy programme that is designed to engage children by promoting the love and enjoyment of reading. Kieran Batham Rotherham United Community Sports Trust development coach said “I believe we have made an impact within the classes we have worked with on both of these projects over the last term it has been really good to see the children engage with both programmes.

The Move and Learn programme is a 6 week block of activities looking at a range of different concepts including healthy eating, eat well guide, meal planning. Throughout the 6 weeks we have delivered 45 minutes theory to the children then a 45 min physical session so the children are learning but in a fun physical environment.

Kieran added “ Clark was very impressed with the children and the questions they asked such as: Who inspired you to get into football? Is it a hard profession? What is it like to score a goal in front of thousands of people?

Clarke Robertson “It’s amazing to come in and visit the kids and see the great work that they’ve been doing alongside the community coaches, I’ve come into the school and had a Q and A session were they’ve asked me some really good difficult questions and they’ve told me all about the projects they’ve been doing with the coaches and they all sound really good its giving the kids chance to learn whilst still been active which is always great. Me and the lads love coming into the schools giving us chance to meet the kids and hopefully inspiring them in their school work and hopefully to get some of them down to the New York Stadium to watch couple of game”
