For those of you who are not avid readers of the financial press, this week our home shirt and long term sponsor Embark, announced the completion of a landmark deal which sees them greatly expand their financial strength, and more importantly adds three global blue-chip brands to their underlying shareholder base.
These companies are Blackrock, the largest investment manager in the world with over $6.5 trillion in client assets under management (AuM), Legg Mason, a major global active investment manager with c$0.8 trillion AuM , and Merian, previously the investment arm of the Old Mutual business in the UK.
The new collective investment into Embark totaled £39.4m (gross). The club will greatly benefit by default from its association with mega brands like these, who each have a material presence all over the world.
Many of the club’s supporters and friends will not have been able to touch the products and services offered by Embark to date, or at least may have without realising it!
Embark are one of the leading players in the self-invested pension and platform markets here in the UK. If you have products from people like Coutts, BestInvest, The Children’s ISA, Nutmeg, Wealthsimple, or Moneyfarm, then you are likely to hold a product from Embark.
The new investment into the business will enable Embark to greatly expand its footprint and brand, and their material investment into Rotherham United is just one small part of this multi-year program.
