RUCST | BUPA Time to Talk Day – Thursday 7th February 2019

5 February 2019

Sponsored by

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are continuing the delivery of a men’s health project across Rotherham.

The programme aims to reduce social isolation, increase community integration and improve both physical and mental wellbeing amongst middle-aged men who, for whatever reason, whether it be work stress, being financially worried, or a general feeling of being fed up, are at risk of poor mental health.

According to recent studies, poor mental health can negatively impact on physical wellbeing while poor physical health can lead to an increased risk of developing mental health issues.

Our project #headinthegame focuses on both physical and emotional wellbeing by offering a combination of free weekly physical exercise sessions and free monthly wellbeing workshops at the ASSEAL New York Stadium.

The physical sessions will be based around the activity of football whilst the workshops will provide advice and support around managing stress, improving confidence, understanding anxiety and depression and more.

In addition to the above, any fan that signs up will receive free match tickets to selected home games this season!
Whether you are experiencing a tough time, need to lose a few pounds or simply want to get out more, we are here to help!

So if you fancy a kick about then get in touch for more information by contacting Christos Louca on 01709 827767 or clouca@rotherhamunited.net.

IMPORTANT DAY’S…

Time to Talk Day – Thursday 7th February 2019

Time to Talk Day is all about encouraging people to have a conversation about mental health. It’s a chance for all of us to be more open about mental health – to talk, to listen, to change lives. It’s easy to think there’s no right place to talk about mental health, but the more we talk about it, the better life is for all of us. There are lots of different ways to talk about mental health. What will go into your conversations?

Since Time to Talk Day first launched in 2014, it has sparked millions of conversations in schools, homes, workplaces, in the media and online. While the aim is to get the nation talking on 7th February, the date may not tie in with your on goings so let’s get the conversations flowing throughout February.

Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet people are still afraid to talk about it. Having conversations about mental health helps remove stereotypes and stigma, improve relationships, and support recovery. For people with mental health issues, not being able to talk about it can be one of the worst part of the illness. Too often, people who experience a mental health problem are expected to take the lead on talking about mental health in the wider sense. Time to Talk Day encourages everyone to talk about mental health.

Come along to our Anxiety & Depression workshop on Monday 25th February at the New York Stadium from 6-8pm.

It will be a chance to improve your knowledge regarding the subject and also provide a safe place to talk about any issues you may be facing.

Please contact Christos Louca on 01709 827767 or clouca@rotherhamunited.net if you would like to sign up.
