Rotherham United took the local bragging rights after a narrow 2-1 success against Doncaster Rovers in the Youth Alliance League.
In a game full of incident, the Millers took an early lead through Jacob Gratton after he powered in a low strike after showing great strength in possession.
After Rovers had a goal disallowed in the first-half, Reon Potts equalised for the hosts just after the break.
With five minutes remaining, the Millers were awarded a spot kick but Tyrone Lewthwaite’s spot kick was tipped around the post.
But Lewthwaite redeemed himself a couple of minutes later, notching a late winner, and there was still time for the Millers to be awarded a second spot kick, but this time Gratton was denied by the ‘keeper from 12 yards.
Rotherham: Farrar; Spence, Southern-Cooper, Hull, Johnson; Gratton, Carlton, Peel-Evans, Hutchinson; Lewthwaite, Etia (Greaves 64).
