Rotherham United's Semi Ajayi has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month for January.

The versatile defender, who has been operating in recent weeks in midfield, has been nominated for his wonder-strike in the recent game with Leeds United.

Ajayi is up against Luke Freeman of QPR and Freddie Sears of Ipswich.

Here are the nominations:

Luke Freeman – Aston Villa v QUEENS PARK RANGERS – 1st January

Quickening his pace as he collected a short pass in midfield, Freeman had one thing in mind as the space opened up before him, to strike a sweet left-footer into the top corner.

Freddie Sears – Aston Villa v IPSWICH TOWN – 26th January

There is nothing worse for a keeper than a shot from distance which looks saveable until it arcs cruelly away from his reach and finds the corner. Sears judged his effort impeccably.

Semi Ajayi – ROTHERHAM UNITED v Leeds United – 26th January

Rampaging forward and collecting the ball in his stride, Ajayi wasn’t about to instigate an intricate team goal. A central defender’s wallop would do – and how – as it flew into the net.
