Millers youngsters open 2019/20 campaign with a win...

Rotherham United’s Academy enjoyed a winning start to their 2019/20 Youth Alliance League campaign as they prevailed as 1-0 victors against Mansfield Town.

Jerome Greaves was the only man on target in a hotly-contested fixture at Roundwood, which saw Ciaran Toner’s side put three points on their league tally in their maiden outing.

The Millers didn’t have to wait long for their first goal of the season to come along, with Greaves beating the Stags’ ‘keeper with just six minutes on the clock before the hosts preserved their advantage for the remaining 84.

It proved to be a great start for Greaves in Millers colours, with the 16-year-old having only signed scholarship terms with the club in July.

Millers | Farrar; Hanley, Beeden, Hull, Smith; Scott (Gateshill 78), Spence, Hodgkinson, Peel-Evans; Gratton; Greaves.

Unused | Ellis, Wenham, Millen, Makwedza.
