Rotherham United’s Semi Ajayi has been nominated for the Sky Bet Player of the Month award for March.

The Nigerian international has been in fine form for the Millers, which has seen the versatile operator find the net on a number of occasions.

Ajayi has been nominated alongside the likes of Emiliano Buendia of Norwich, Pablo Hernandez of Leeds and Sheffield United’s Jack O’Connell.

The March nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award are:

Semi Ajayi (Rotherham United) - midfielder
Ajayi’s power and will to win were always suited to the transition from central defence to midfield. Less predictable were five goals in five games, three courtesy of prodigious leaps and flying headers, two immaculately timed low shots.

Emiliano Buendia (Norwich City) - midfielder
Has blossomed since the turn of the year. Imaginative and daring with his passes, the Argentine scored three goals, including a stunning strike on the run for the winner against Swansea, and set up two more in March.

Pablo Hernandez (Leeds United) - midfielder
A consistent contributor all season, the Spaniard was exceptional in March. Silky smooth when running with the ball and a superb timer of shots, he scored five goals from a wide position and also set up two for teammates.

Jack O’Connell (Sheffield United) – central defender
Back in the side, the left-footed overlapping central defender restored balance to United’s defence and helped to keep four clean sheets in five games. Armed with a new contract, he also scored the opening goal against Rotherham.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 12 APRIL 2019

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Ivor Davies.
