Jamie Proctor and Michael Smith agree new Rotherham United deals...

Rotherham United have completed deals to tie down attacking duo Jamie Proctor and Michael Smith to new contracts at AESSEAL New York Stadium, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

Paul Warne has moved to secure the long-term futures of the promotion-winning duo who both previously had deals set to expire at the end of the 2018/19 campaign, but will now remain with the Millers until 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Proctor’s start to life at Rotherham United was hindered by an ACL injury sustained in last season’s home clash with Charlton Athletic but following a long and arduous rehabilitation process, returned to action this season. The 26-year-old reintroduced himself to the Millers faithful with a brace against Wigan Athletic in the Carabao Cup and has gone on to make a further eight appearances with one goal to his name. The Preston-born forward will remain with the Millers until the summer of 2021.

Smith’s Rotherham United journey has been somewhat of a success story, since he was signed from Bury at the start of January. He became an instant hit at AESSEAL New York Stadium as he became a key part of the side that would go on to earn promotion to the Championship via a win at Wembley in May. He scored six goals in Milers colours and has carried that momentum through into the 2018/19 campaign, in which he has made 12 appearances in total, scoring one goal. The 26-year-old will remain with the Millers until the summer of 2022.
