Rotherham United Community Sports Trust supports White Ribbon Campaign

The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement, which encourages both men and boys to work together to end male violence against women and girls. It was formed by a group of pro-feminist men in London, Ontario in November 1991.. The campaign was intended to raise awareness about the prevalence of male violence against women, with the ribbon symbolising the idea of men giving up their arms. Active in over 60 countries, the movement seeks to promote healthy relationships, gender equity, and a compassionate vision of masculinity.

Over the past month, through the Premier League Kicks Project, Rotherham United Community Sports Trust has worked with the organisation Inspire To Change, delivering a number of workshops to young people, discussing healthy relationships. The Premier League Kicks Project provides us with a platform and a resource to facilitate integration. The purpose of the Premier League Kicks initiative through Rotherham United Community Sports Trust, is to provide safe sporting activities for young people in the area of Rotherham. Our overall aims are to reduce the rates of anti-social behaviour. In addition to this, our intension is to promote community cohesion, as well as linking with Rotherham Health and Wellbeing strategy.

Our partnership with Inspire To Change is launching today. Over the past month, RUCST has worked closely with the organisation to deliver healthy relationship workshops to young people across the Premier League Kicks Project. We aimed to facilitate discussion and educate young people on this important issue, in an attempt to create community ambassadors who will spread the message in the community with other young people.
