Rotherham United slipped to a 5-3 defeat against Burton Albion after coming out on the wrong side of a high-scoring encounter at Burton.
The high-octane clash saw eight goals scored but Ciaran Toner’s side were ultimately defeated on their return league action.
In their final Youth Alliance fixture before the Christmas break, a brace from defender Jake Southern-Cooper, with efforts either side of Jacques Etia’s strike, weren’t enough as Tom Hewlett’s hat-trick added to by goals from Kyle Clamp and Ethan Vale saw the Brewers prevail.
