The February nominations for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month Award are:
Rotherham United winger Joe Newell has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award for February.
The former Peterborough ace is enjoying a rich vein of form, which was capped by netting the recent injury time winning penalty as the Millers defeated Doncaster Rovers in the South Yorkshire derby.
Newell’s nomination is part of a double for the Millers as boss Paul Warne has also been shortlisted for the Manager of the Month prize.
Newell has been in sparkling form the Millers throughout February, netting against Scunthorpe and Doncaster, whilst also being on hand with a number of assists.
It was Newell’s cross that Michael Smith converted for the equaliser against Donny, whilst his effort was saved to allow David Ball to head in the second goal in the victory against AFC Wimbledon.
The nominees are as follows:
Adam Armstrong (Blackburn Rovers) - striker
Brought pace and directness to the Rovers attack with four goals and an assist – all in the month in which he turned 21. A perfect foil for Danny Graham, he demonstrated the confidence of youth with two cool finishes at Portsmouth.
Jason Demetriou (Southend United) – full-back
Three goals from right-back as well as two clean sheets in four games. And what goals, too. A penalty winner at Peterborough, then a rasping drive on a forward foray and a lung-bursting late run and firm finish against Portsmouth.
Ruben Lameiras (Plymouth Argyle) - striker
His form this season has mirrored that of his team. Out of form and favour, the Portuguese playmaker came back into the side just before Christmas and has been brilliant since. He scored two goals and made two more in the month.
Joe Newell (Rotherham United) - winger
Newell’s impact was huge in February with two goals and three assists. Always willing to use his trickery to skip past defenders and possesses the vision and technique to pick out teammates in space.
