Paul Warne talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United boss Paul Warne insists concluding any summer transfer business as early as possible will be paramount in ensuring that the famed squad harmony at the club last season, will once again be in evidence ahead of the start of the 2018/19 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Efforts to secure summer transfer targets are already well underway with the first team staff working closely with Head of Recruitment Jamie Johnson, but the Millers manager has reiterated the importance of integrating any new faces ahead of the new campaign.

“Ideally I would recruit and have everyone bar possibly one or two on the first day, so when they come back they've got their spot in the changing room and they know the lads,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“That's what I'm looking to do.”

Warne’s side were commended for their close-knit bond which played a pivotal role in promotion via the Sky Bet League One Play-offs and he is keen to ensure that bond is equally strong in the second tier next season.

“We've got the first home game at the end of the first week's training against Parkgate just up the slope and then I'm going to try and get a bit of a family barbecue for the lads and their wives and kids,” he continued.

“Hopefully any new signings I've got can mingle with the group straight away, their partners know people and they'll feel at home.

“It's important to get them in as soon as possible. I think the sooner they bond with the lads and are part of the group, the better."
