Rotherham United Community Sports Trust are currently recruiting for 2 NCS Senior Co-ordinators. These are pivotal role within the NCS programmes to lead on the recruitment and engagement for the NCS programmes and support the NCS Operations Manager to plan, co-ordinate and deliver NCS (Both Summer & Autumn) throughout the borough of Rotherham along with assisting in line managing NCS Co-ordinators and administrators.

This is a full time permanent position to cover 37.5 hours per week where you will be required to work flexibly within these hours to cover weekend and evenings as well where appropriate.

The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a government funded programme which provides a once in a lifetime experience for 16 and 17 year olds.  The aim of the programme being to promote a more cohesive, responsible and engaged society.  It is a fun action packed, programme that gives young people the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends whilst doing something truly inspiring with their summer.

The NCS Programme is focused on 4 key outcomes for the young people that participate:

  • Social mixing: improving attitudes towards others from different backgrounds, strengthening and broadening social and support networks.
  • Community involvement: increasing willingness to engage and help out, acknowledge and develop an awareness of influence in their local communities.
  • Teamwork, communication and leadership: increasing confidence in meeting new people, putting forward new ideas, and trying new things.
  • Transition: facilitating the transition to adulthood and improving attitudes towards work, education and training.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:-

You will support the Planning, Co-ordination and Implementation of the National Citizen Service (NCS) project whilst also leading on the residential and social action elements of the project as well.  You will assist in the Line Management and delegation of tasks to the wider NCS team which includes 2 x NCS Co-ordinators and 2 x administrators. 

You will also assist with marketing, recruitment, resource needs (i.e., locations/transportation/equipment) Engagement, networking and associated administration for the NCS Programmes.

Person Specification:-

You must have relevant experience.  This may include coaching, teaching or mentoring within a youth or sport environment coupled with experience of Line Management or working within a supervisory capacity.

Experience of planning and managing large scale events or projects in a paid or voluntary setting e.g. managing youth programmes or complex events is essential.

Experience of presenting to large groups, delivering briefings is also essential.

You will be strikingly positive and motivated in nature and have a proven ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and be able to demonstrate keeping a level head within stressful situations.  You will possess excellent communication skills including written, telephone and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to think clearly, creatively and imaginatively.

You must hold a full driving licence with own vehicle.

Salary payable is £18,000 - £21,000
