Caolan Lavery signs for Rotherham United...

Rotherham United have signed Sheffield United striker Caolan Lavery on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old becomes the third arrival during the January transfer window following the signings of Michael Smith from Bury and Matthew Palmer from Burton Albion.

The former Northern Ireland under 21 international helped the Blades secure the League One Championship last season, and joins the Millers having played six times in all competitions for Chris Wilder’s side during the current campaign.

Born in Canada, Lavery started his youth career in England with Ipswich before making his breakthrough at Sheffield Wednesday.

During his early years at Hillsborough he was loaned out to the likes of Southend United, Plymouth Argyle, Chesterfield and Portsmouth where he gained vital EFL experience.

During his time with Wednesday he made 39 appearances in all competitions, starting 19 times, and netting six goals.

He signed for the Blades in August 2016, and last season he netted five times in all competitions as Wilder’s side comfortably earned promotion to The Championship.
