SIGNING | Millers seal deal for Championship midfielder

Matthew Palmer signs for the Millers...

Rotherham United have completed the signing of Burton Albion midfielder Matthew Palmer for an undisclosed fee, subject to EFL ratification.

The 22-year-old is Paul Warne’s second arrival during the January transfer window following the signing of Michael Smith from Bury, and has penned a two-and-a-half year deal with the Millers.

Palmer boasts Championship experience on his CV, after playing a major role last season as the Brewers maintained their second tier status.

The Derby-born playmaker has been heavily involved again this term making 14 appearances for Nigel Clough’s side, scoring in the home game against Sheffield United.

He is well known to Millers supporters after netting against Warne’s side last season.

He came through the ranks at the Pirelli Stadium, making 158 appearances in all competitions, helping them acvhieve promotion to The Championship.

Palmer also has League One experience with Burton and through a loan spell at Oldham in 2016 where he made 14 appearances.
