Will Vaulks talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United utility man Will Vaulks believes he and his teammates will benefit from the break in fixtures this weekend after picking up a healthy points haul from their frenzy of festive fixtures.

Operating at both centre back and in central midfield and contributing two impressive long-range goals over the course of late December and early January, Vaulks has been heavily involved in Paul Warne’s side’s recent success.

However, the former Falkirk man admits that the chance for the Millers squad to recharge their batteries this weekend will benefit them greatly as they look to pick up where they left off against Blackburn when they return to action at Boundary Park.

“I think we need the rest," Vaulks told www.themillers.co.uk.

“The momentum is good but we've had the same team for nearly five games so I think we need the break.

“Then when we come back it's up to us to get back to that level and go again.”

The recent resurgence has seen the Millers put themselves right back in the frame for a Play-off place, with Portsmouth currently just one point ahead of them in Sky Bet League One’s 6th place and the 24-year-old is keen to use their current position as a platform for the second half of the season.

“We've put ourselves where we feel we should be, but we would like to even be a little bit higher,” Vaulks added.

“I think we let ourselves down in that two month spell earlier in the season but we've managed to turn it around.

“We can't let that slip now because it's hard to come back twice from runs like that in a season.”
