3aaa and KCM Recycling donate tables to Rotherham and Bluebell Wood Hospice

Rotherham United would like to thank club partners 3aaa and KCM Recycling for getting into the festive spirit by donating hospitality tables at two events over the Christmas period to our local hospices.

The annual Chairman’s Christmas Ball saw staff and volunteers from the Rotherham Hospice and Bluebell Wood Hospice join the players, staff and Millers Chairman Tony Stewart in the lounge at AESSEAL New York Stadium for the festive gathering, before staff, parents and children from Bluebell Wood Hospice tasted the VIP treatment as Match Sponsors for the New Year’s Day game with Blackburn Rovers.

The apprenticeship providers, who have worked closely with the Millers in recent years and currently sponsor the Boardroom at AESSEAL New York Stadium, handed over their places over the course of Christmas and the New Year, while longstanding club partners and sponsors of the North Stand, KCM Recycling joined in with a festive donation.

Head of Commercial Mark Hitchens, who works closely with both companies, explained that he was delighted to see staff, patients and parents from two of the area’s most cherished charities over the course of Christmas and the New Year.

“It is always a pleasure to see representatives from both the Rotherham and Bluebell Wood hospices down here at the club, as I know many of our supporters have seen or experienced first-hand the wonderful service that they provide for the community,” he explained.

“It was a superb gesture from our friends at 3aaa and KCM Recycling to donate the tables, particularly at Christmas time and it once again reaffirms how proud we are of our association with them.

“Both groups had the opportunity to meet the players on their visits, with Bluebell Wood joining the guided tour of the dressing rooms before the game on New Year’s Day and it was lovely to see the youngsters with smiles on their faces.”

Diane Keeley, Head of Patient and Family Support Services at the Rotherham Hospice said:

“We were once again honoured to be asked to attend the Chairman’s Christmas Ball at Rotherham United and are very grateful to the people at 3aaa for the opportunity to do so.

“As a charity, we rely heavily on the kindness and support of the local community and it was a wonderful gesture to make towards our staff at this time of year.

“It was once again a very enjoyable evening and on behalf of everyone at the Rotherham Hospice we would like to thank them for the chance to attend.”

Meanwhile, a number of parents that attended the game against Blackburn Rovers with the children from Bluebell Wood also took time to place on record their thanks:

Kerry White: “Thank you so much for a fantastic day. Leo had the ‘best day ever’ (his words). The players were so warm and accommodating to us all.”

Bridgette McFadden: “We had a fantastic day, thank you for letting us be a part of it. Everyone at Rotherham United was lovely to be around and nothing was too much for them. The meal was lovely too and the kids really enjoyed their first time at a football match.”

Debbie Crossland: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Rotherham United and Bluebell Wood!

Ethan had an amazing day meeting all the players!”
