A young Rotherham United side were defeated 4-0 by Morecambe in the first Central League fixture of 2018/19.
Ciaran Toner oversaw a youthful Millers outfit at the Shrimps’ first team stadium, where goals from Mendes Gomes, Vadaine Oliver, Jordan Cranston and Olly Crankshaw secured victory for the hosts.
With the Rotherham United first team in Carabao Cup action on the same day at Everton, it was left to the Academy youngsters to staff the fixture and they faced a Morecambe side containing a number of senior professionals.
