Rotherham United’s Academy maintained the pressure on the Youth Alliance League’s top club Oldham Athletic with a 2-1 home triumph over Scunthorpe United at the weekend.
Goals from Tom Maguire and Regan Hutchinson were enough to earn Garreth Barker’s youngsters all three points in a tightly contested affair in which the Millers saw off a late fightback from the Iron.
The victory means that the Millers are just one point off the summit of the Youth Alliance North East League table with the Latics currently heading up the division.
