Richie Towell talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

On loan midfielder Richie Towell insists his hopes of a strong finish in Sky Bet League One with Rotherham United have not been dampened despite a recent points return that hasn’t met those ambitions.

The Irish playmaker believes he and his Millers teammates can rekindle their early season form that saw them establish themselves in a position in the Play-off places and is hoping to strengthen their place in the table as high-flying Wigan Athletic visit AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday.

“We're back in training and working hard to rectify it and we're ready to go again now,” Towell told www.themillers.co.uk.

“Even when I was at Brighton when we got promoted it happened to us and we went through a terrible patch and everyone was looking around thinking we hadn't changed anything, what's the problem? Sometimes that happens and sometimes that's just football.

“Not that we need any motivation to be up for a game but as games go you don't need any extra for a top team like Wigan coming to town.

“They were in the Championship last year like we were so they have a lot of good players and we'll have to work hard through this week to make sure we can get something from the weekend.”

Towell continued to express his pleasure at returning to the starting 11 at the weekend and says he is keen to be heavily involved as the Millers enter a busy Christmas period.

“There are some massive games coming up and I want to play as much as I can,” he explained.

“It was nice to start against Shrewsbury, win the penalty and score but it means nothing when you don't win the game. We need to be a bit tighter at the back and a bit more ruthless in front of goal and hopefully the tide will turn.”
