Rotherham United are delighted to unveil 24-year-old Michael Ihiekwe as the club’s first signing of the summer, with the deal subject to FA and EFL ratification.

The Liverpool-born defender has put pen-to-paper on a deal to become Paul Warne’s first summer recruit, agreeing a two year deal at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Ihiekwe made a total of 42 appearances for Tranmere Rovers in the 2016/17 season, playing an instrumental role as they reached the National League Play-off final, where they were beaten 3-1 by Forest Green Rovers.

The centre back lists Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cheltenham Town on his resume as previous employers and he spent time in the Liverpool Academy set up as youngster.

Full reaction from Michael and Millers boss Paul Warne to follow on www.themillers.co.uk.
