Alex Bray talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

New Rotherham United signing Alex Bray says the chance to put pen-to-paper on permanent terms at AESSEAL New York Stadium was the ‘perfect opportunity’ to establish his name in the professional game.

The 21-year-old made his international loan with the Millers a permanent move on Friday after signing the relevant paperwork to complete the deal and admits he is looking forward to embarking on the next step of his footballing journey whilst in South Yorkshire.

“I'm really really happy and it this stage of my career this is where I want to push on and get men's football week-in week-out,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“I think here is the perfect opportunity to do that and being here on loan already means that I'm already settled in. I know all the lads and I can't wait to get started.

“I think all the lads here are top lads. I've settled in really nicely and me and Ben have got to know the area quite well. The manager and staff have made me welcome and I'm really pleased to be joining.”

Despite first team opportunities being limited to substitute appearances in recent weeks, Bray has impressed interim boss Paul Warne in reserve games and training sessions and the winger insists that he is ready to perform whenever called upon by the manager.

“I think the manager must have seen enough of me to offer me the chance to come here permanently,” he added.

“Hopefully he knows what I can do for the club and I'm ready whenever he is, but it's up to him when I'm selected.”

The Millers’ interim boss has spoken highly of the Bath-born midfielder’s talents and has expressed his keenness to develop him over the summer, with Bray sharing similar ambitions for his future with Rotherham United.

“I think next season is going to be the big one for me,” he explained.

“I want to get a bit stronger, fitter and push on for a place in the first team.

“Hopefully whatever happens I can cement my place in the team."
