Rotherham United Ladies manager James Leggitt insists his side’s fate will be in their own hands next season, as they look to launch an assault on the division having recently been reinstated to the FA Women’s Premier League.

The Ladies, who experienced mixed fortunes in their last campaign, have already laid the foundations for a more positive season in 2017/18 with their pre-season schedule already in place and Leggitt is hoping to assemble a tight-knit group as work resumes at Roundwood.

"Being reinstated into the FAWPL is a stroke of good luck and something we never managed to get hold of last season,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“We now have to capitalise on this and start making our own luck, take our chances and start the season well.

James Leggitt, Manager RULFC

“Pre-season has been structured and planned to enable us to develop each player individually which will bolster the squad as a unit.

“Togetherness is key as we saw how that helped Wolves, especially on their run in to winning the title.”

The opportunity to ply their trade in the FAWPL again next season will bring about a fresh set of challenges for the Millers, but the Ladies’ boss is confident that he can bring in the necessary quality with a number of targets already on the club’s radar.

"I've spoken with a number of players but we are still actively speaking to others and looking for quality to add to the squad,” Leggitt continued.

“We want to have a competitive side for next season and it’s really important that we have healthy competition for places".

"Being reinstated into the FAWPL, we are looking for players who have the quality to play at Step 4 and above and want to be part of a club with an ambitious management team who are looking to bring success and enjoyment to the club".

“Any player wishing to come along and train with us keep checking our social media or get in touch via the details on our website/RUFC/Community Trust".”

If you are interested in watching RULFC in pre-season, keep an eye out on the various media outlets for confirmation of the dates, venues and opponents for their pre-season schedule.

"Our pre-season schedule has been finalised with a few minor tweaks to make before we go live with the details,” Leggitt explained.

"Friendlies have been lined up with a few more just to confirm and the opposition has been handpicked to help us progress our pre-season accordingly".
