Paul Warne talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Manager Paul Warne has confirmed that winger Anthony Forde was subbed last night purely as a precaution.

The former Walsall ace was withdrawn after 15 minutes in the 1-7 victory over Austrian side Floridsdorfer AC (FAC), as Warne’s side began their two game tour of the country with an impressive win.

The only blot was the early withdrawal of the Irishman, but Warne confirmed that the substitution was because of tightness and nothing more.

“Fordey stiffened up a little after 15 minutes and I didn’t want to risk him because he has had a really good pre-season so far,” confirmed the Millers boss to www.themillers.co.uk.

“We brought him off and Tayls (Jon Taylor) went on. We didn’t want to put too much into him too soon, he hasn’t trained much, so we played the last 10 minutes with 10 men and the lads were still pressing to the end.”

The Millers won the game thanks to goals from Kieffer Moore (2), David Ball, Jonson Clarke-Harris, Michael Ihiekwe, Jon Taylor and Lee Frecklington.

The match not only saw the emergence of Taylor for the first time, but Jerry Yates also got his first action of pre-season after playing the final 30 minutes.

The Millers are in action again this Saturday when they take on Soproni VSE of Hungary at the training base at Lindabrunn Sportschule.
