Paul Warne talks to www.themillers.co.uk...Rotherham United interim boss Paul Warne says the addition of loan signing Semi Ajayi will bring some welcome pace to his side’s rearguard, after the 23-year-old put pen-to-paper on a temporary switch from Cardiff City.
The Millers caretaker was thorough in his due diligence in bringing the former Arsenal man to AESSEAL New York Stadium and is pleased to have added the Crayford-born defender’s attributes to his back line.
“He's athletic, he's a big lad and I've had good reports on him,” Warne told www.themillers.co.uk.
“I've spoken to three different managers that have had him and all of them speak highly of him.
“We've got experience at the back and I've highlighted that I needed to sign a centre half with pace.
“I think our lines have been quite good but we can get done with a ball over the top because we do lack that little bit of pace.”
Warne continued to admit that whilst the Bluebirds’ defender may not have a lot of senior games under his belt, he firmly believes his physicality will be a big asset to the Millers and was delighted with his enthusiasm upon joining the club.
“He hasn't played a lot so he's probably a little bit raw but if he can come in and be big and strong for me at the back then I'll be happy with him,” he continued.
“I'm really pleased that he's chosen to come and join us so I'll look forward to seeing him play tomorrow night if selected.
“He's a nice kid, was happy to come and wanted to come, which is a big part of it. He wants to come and play football and he's the same as all my lads.
“I said to them today, I'm trying to sign players and you'll be upset with some of them because they're going to come in to take your jerseys, but if the lads who play perform well then I won't drop them."
