Paul Warne talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

This weekend’s Sky Bet League One opponents will be one of the division’s pace setters, believes Rotherham United boss Paul Warne.

The Addicks are in town on Saturday, after winning two of their opening league fixtures including triumphs over Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town and Millers boss Warne admits his early feeling is that they can compete right at the top end of the third tier.

“They have assembled a really good squad and I've watched two of their last games and I think they've looked the most impressive of all the teams I've seen,” he explained.

“We're well aware that he [Richie Barker] knows how Charlton play and I think that they are my tip for automatic promotion this early on.”

Much like the encounters at London Road and more recently, the John Smith’s Stadium, Warne believes the weekend’s clash will see another open game, with the Millers boss keen to see how two differing styles fare on Saturday.

“I think that they are the benchmark and although we have had a tricky start to the season, I think we've competed really well in every game and I'd like to test our wits against them on Saturday and see where we end up,” he explained.

“They way they play means that they rotate for fun in the middle of the park and sometimes when we've watched games the left back ends up being centre mid.

“They've got really talented footballers and we'll see how they compete against my really talented bunch.

“It's probably two different styles in a nice way and I just hope the lads can perform to their max.”
