Alan Stubbs talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Striker Dexter Blackstock looks set to be included in Alan Stubbs’ matchday squad for the weekend clash with Cardiff City.

The former Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers striker penned a deal with the Millers just after the transfer deadline, but has had to be patient before making his Millers bow as he plays catch up with his fitness.

After suffering from tendonitis earlier in pre-season, Blackstock has been working hard behind the scenes to get himself up to speed, and Stubbs is hopeful of being able to include the experienced marksman in his squad for the visit of Cardiff City.

“We are hopeful that Dexter Blackstock will be available for the squad,” Stubbs told www.themillers.co.uk

“As long as he comes through today and tomorrow with no reactions we are hopeful of that.

“He has certainly stepped up his training now. He had a slight reaction last week so we had to give him a few days off for it to settle down. He has trained this week and touch wood he has had no adverse reaction to that, and as long as that stays the same he will be in the squad for Saturday.”

The return of Blackstock will come as a welcome boost for Stubbs, who is also made stronger with Darnell Fisher completing a one match ban for his red card against Nottingham Forest.

But the Millers look set to be without Stephen Kelly who has a thigh strain, whilst Tom Adeyemi is missing under the terms of his loan agreement from Saturday’s visitors.
