Each year the RUCST look to support and engage more females into football and this year is no different, to coincide with this year’s girls football week the trust will be holding a girls football festival at Parkgate Astro.
The event will seek to get more girls to play football by running a number of workshops and activities in the morning and then a 6 aside tournament in the afternoon. The trust aims to engage girls who are already interested in football but also hope that the number of other activities will also appeal to girls who don’t currently play football.
The event which is for Y5 and Y6 girls, will take place on the 18th of October (10am – 3pm) at Parkgate Astro and The morning activities will consist of;
Inflatable hub (test your shooting accuracy)
Football skills session
Healthy eating workshop
Penalty Shootout with miller bear, plus many more
The day will then conclude with a tournament for all the girls to take part in.
Alix Dickens (Women and Girls Coordinator) said “it’s a fantastic opportunity for local schools to get their Y5&Y6 girls involved in fun football activities. So far we have engaged over 1000 girls in to football or sport related activities and I’m confident we can make that number increase significantly over the next year”
