Rotherham United Community Sports Trust have been awarded £9140.00 from Morrison’s to help support Rotherham priority of prevention and early help by engaging carers early on and supporting them to adopt a healthier lifestyle

This project aims to offer support to carers who often have no respite from their caring role and have health issues themselves. A recent local consultation with carers mentions carers wanting ‘time out’ as the demands of caring was making them ill.

The trust will be delivering relaxation sessions, a table tennis club, exercise and fitness sessions, walks for carers, health and nutrition advice, and cook and eat sessions.

Mark Cummins, Community Manager said “we are really proud of the support that has been given by Morrisons. Our disability theme has always built really good relationships with participants and we are delighted to now offer a programme for carers. The project will give full access to our fantastic new facilities at the AESSEAL New York Stadium delivering a combination of sport, physical activity and health work.
