Francis Benali arrives at AESSEAL New York Stadium...

Rotherham United were delighted to welcome Francis Benali who was greeted by a host of Millers' representatives as his epic journey brought him to AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The ex-footballer, best recognised for his time with Southampton, arrived on his bike at the Millers’ home on the afternoon of Monday 10th October as part of a planned stop at every Premier League and Championship club in an attempt to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Franny took Rotherham United in as his fourth stop of the day after visiting Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and Barnsley before departing for his final destination of the day at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough ground.

Millers’ Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas was on hand to present Franny with a signed shirt for his fundraising efforts for Cancer Research UK and told www.themillers.co.uk of his delight at welcoming him to AESSEAL New York Stadium.

“We have nothing but admiration for the task that Franny has undertaken in his quest to raise money for a very worthy cause.

“Despite the obvious aches and pains that a challenge like this brings about, Franny was still all smiles when he arrived with us in Rotherham and it was great to welcome him and his fundraising team.

“On behalf of everyone at Rotherham United I would like to congratulate him for his achievements so far and wish him all the best for the remainder of his journey.”

Benali’s epic mission began on the South Coast at Bournemouth on 2nd October and is set to end at his former club Southampton on Sunday 16th October.

Everyone at Rotherham United would like to congratulate Francis on his fantastic achievement and wish him all the best in his fundraising efforts.
