Rotherham United have confirmed the retained list for the 2016/17 season...

Rotherham United have confirmed that 11 players have left the AESSEAL New York Stadium as the club finalises the retained list for next season.

Frazer Richardson, Lewis Buxton, Danny Collins, Lloyd Doyley, Adam Collin, Paddy Kenny, Alex Cairns, Paul Green, Emmanuel Ledesma, Jerome Thomas and Luciano Becchio will all leave the club following the expiration of their respective contracts.

Following today’s confirmation, goalkeeper Collin ends a three-year stay with the club. Collin joined in 2013 and became a firm favourite with the supporters following his Wembley heroics in the Play-off final which helped earn the Millers promotion to the Championship. Collin then played 36 times in the second tier as the club avoided relegation. In total he played 81 games in all competitions.

Also leaving AESSEAL New York Stadium is midfielder Green after a two year stay. The Republic of Ireland international made 26 appearances in all competitions last season, which included a goal in the League Cup defeat to Norwich City. Overall Green made 65 appearances, scoring four goals for the club.

Rotherham-born Richardson also ends a two-year stint with the club. The experienced full-back made 20 appearances last season, and played a key role in the Millers successful fight against relegation. Overall he made 43 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Defensive duo Buxton and Collins depart after one season with the club. Both were regular starters during the first half of last season with Buxton making 22 appearances in all competitions and Collins appearing 26 times. The latter also scored two goals during his time with the Millers.

Midfielder Ledesma also leaves after one season, after earning a deal through his performances on loan during the 2014/15 season. Last season he made eight appearances, adding to his seven appearances the previous campaign.

Cairns, Becchio, Thomas, Kenny and Doyley all joined during the latter end of the season. Winger Thomas made six appearances, defender Doyley and striker Becchio appeared twice each. Goalkeeping duo of Cairns and Kenny didn’t make a senior appearance but provided vital cover to Player of the Year Lee Camp.

Rotherham United would like to thank all of our departing players for their effort whilst with the club, and we wish them all well for the future.
