Rotherham United are in talks with five of the current squad...

Rotherham United have confirmed they are in talks with five players regarding their future with the club.

Following today’s announcement that 11 players have left the AESSEAL New York Stadium, Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas confirmed that discussions are well underway with five other members of the current squad.

Negotiations are ongoing with Kirk Broadfoot, Matt Derbyshire, Richard Wood, Stephen Kelly and Leon Best about extending their stay at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

“Conversations have been initiated with the five players, and those conversations are set to continue,” Douglas told www.themillers.co.uk

“Some of those conversations may well be concluded before the appointment of a new first team manager, some of the discussions may go on for longer."

Earlier it was confirmed that Frazer Richardson, Lewis Buxton, Danny Collins, Lloyd Doyley, Adam Collin, Paddy Kenny, Alex Cairns, Paul Green, Emmanuel Ledesma, Jerome Thomas and Luciano Becchio will all leave the club following the expiration of their contract.

Douglas added:

“I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the club to thank all the players who have left for their efforts during their time with Rotherham United. We would like to wish them all well for the future.”
