Ian Douglas is the winner of our Millers Mayday jackpot...

Rotherham United would like to congratulate Ian Douglas on winning the club’s Millers Mayday Grand Prize draw of £4,000

The draw was made by Rotherham-born ex-Miller David Artell during half time of the final home game of the season against Blackburn Rovers, who pulled fellow townsman Ian’s number out of the hat which saw him claim the end of season jackpot.

Millers fan Ian was joined by Grant and Danny Ward at AESSEAL New York Stadium where he collected his winnings and joked that his other half had made plans for the money immediately after receiving the news of the win, but is looking forward to his upcoming holiday where the money will come in very useful.

“I’m over the moon and our lass has spent it already,” Ian jested.

“We’re going to Greece in just over a week so £1000 will do nicely for the spending money and the rest we’ll share between the two lads that stand in with me.

Ian is a longstanding member of the Millers Mayday scheme who admits that he has been lucky over the years, despite taking a break due to work commitments.

“I started playing the Mayday when it first began but had to leave temporarily due to me working away and once we moved back I rejoined,” he explained.

“I’ve won the £1,000 prize once before and I’ve won £20 as well. The lad that I stand in with has won a thousand too so we’ve done quite well really.”

Ian finished by explaining that claiming the Mayday jackpot capped a fantastic season at Rotherham United and hopes that the man responsible for the Millers’ impressive finish to the 2015/16 campaign stays at the AESSEAL New York Stadium helm next season.

“It’s been exceptional this year, especially since Neil has come in. He’s changed us around and I just hope that he can stay for next year and maybe even beyond that."
