Trust supports International women’s day!

International women’s day

International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements of women all around the world, it promotes equality which is where everyone is allowed to achieve no matter who they are, where they come from, or whether they are male or female.

To mark international Women’s day, Rotherham United Community Sports Trust will be taking a closer look at their female staff and what inspirational work they are doing in our local community.

Zanib Rasool (MBE) Partnership & development Manager

Zanib is the longest serving and most senior Female staff member at RUCST, she has been working for the trust in excess of 8 years providing quality managerial and partnership skills. Zanib has created numerous job opportunities through funding applications and grants received to help better Rotherham as a whole. Zanib is one of the most important staff member within RUCST and has raised over £2,000,000.00 all of which has been invested back in to Rotherham. Zanib was awarded with the much deserved MBE in 2014 for all the hard work and commitment to the community of Rotherham.

Abbi Walker – Health Assistant

Abbi Joined RUCST over 3 years ago on our Sports apprenticeship programme where she gained Activity Leadership Level 2 & Customer Service Level 3 qualifications. Abbi showed great potential and was offered a permanent job after she graduated the apprenticeship scheme, and is now working as a health Assistant for our Health and Wellbeing department gaining vital experience and additional qualifications to further her career.

Alix Dickens – Women & Girls Coordinator

Alix also Joined RUCST 3 years ago at the same time as Abbi, on our Sports apprenticeship programme where she gained Activity Leadership Level 2 & Customer Service Level 3 qualifications. Alix showed great potential and was offered a permanent job after she graduated the apprenticeship scheme, and is now working as the Women & Girls Coordinator for our Sport Development department gaining vital experience and additional qualifications to further her career.

Carole Foster – NCS Project Manager

Carole has been working with RUCST for over 3 years, initially delivering provision for our Educational programmes working with both primary and secondary school pupils. However an opportunity came available within RUCST for the position of NCS Project Manager, Carole was successful with the application process and has been relentlessly working within the NCS department. RUCST is statistically the best NCS project in the Yorkshire and Humber region in regards to recruitment and retention.

Gemma Wright – Apprentice NCS Administrator

Gemma has been involved in Volunteering/Working with RUCST for nearly 2 years, Gemma initially started volunteering as an administrator for all departments within RUCST where she gained valuable experience and knowledge, from this Gemma was offered an apprenticeship scheme working primarily in the NCS team ensuring the sign up paper work is processed correctly and dealing with any NCS related administrative duties.

Kirsty Maxey – Sports Tutor

Kirsty started off at RUCST on placement almost 2 years ago whilst studying for her PGCE Shadowing former employees Andy Warrington & Mark Wilkinson, Kirsty showed great potential and knowledge throughout her placement. An opportunity arose with the Education department and Kirsty has now been teaching BTEC qualification for both Rotherham Collage and our BTEC Level 3 futsal course.

Lauren Kerry– Health Officer and trained nutritionist

Lauren has been a part of our Health and Wellbeing team for 18 months, delivering high quality health sessions to various schools and communities across Rotherham. Ever since Lauren has been working for RUCST she has developed the Health and Wellbeing Department from her own skills and knowledge, offering a different style of learning we were unable to give until she came into employment. Lauren has is a qualified nutritionist who has worked with Team GB athletes.

Ruth Dobson– NCS Project Officer

Ruth Joined our NCS team close to 2 years ago to provide quality residential and team leader skills and experience to the department, Ruth along with Carole and the rest of the team have made exceptional progress in making RUCST a leading NCS provider in our region, which offers young people aged 15-17 in Rotherham a once in a life time experience. Ruth also helps deliver the graduate programme where NCS participants gain valuable skills to help them become an NCS Team Leaders Assistant on the next programme.

Sarah Newbould – School Sports Coordinator

Sarah is one of the longest serving female members of staff at RUCST has been a part of our team for 4 years, she has built up fantastic relationships with numerous schools throughout Rotherham. Sarah is an essential part of the Sport Development Team provides quality coaching sessions at both schools and holiday camps. Sarah has delivered sessions to roughly 52000 children.

Trudi Race– Disability Officer

Trudi joined our Inclusion Team close to 2 years ago to manage and deliver our Sport England funded programme along with other projects, since her appointment Trudi has gained valuable links and partnerships with other organisations in Rotherham and set up hugely successful programmes to help people with a variety of Mental Health illnesses. Trudi thrives of giving everyone the help they need to prosper building fantastic relationships with participants accessing the project.
