Rotherham United have been nominated for Community Club of the Year...

Rotherham United’s Community Sports Trust have been nominated for the Johnstone’s Paint Community Club of the Year at the upcoming Football League Awards.

The Trust have been nominated for the prestigious gong alongside Burnley, Burton Albion, Charlton Athletic, Brighton and Hove Albion and Cardiff City.

The shortlists for the awards were announced by the Football League today, with the the annual ceremony celebrating the on and off pitch excellence across the League’s 72 clubs.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for the Community Club of the Year award again,” said head of community Jamie Noble.

“It has been another successful year for the Trust, and after I told the staff the news this afternoon, the whole office has been absolutely buzzing.

“A big factor behind our nomination was the work we have put together around supporting individuals with mental health issues, using sport as a vehicle to reduce the effects of the condition.

“Whilst that was our major project for the year, we have also been commended for our work in a host of other areas including education, sports participation and inclusion.

“The staff have worked tirelessly in the past year and this nomination is testament to the hard work and commitment of a number of individuals.”

The nomination process for the Community Club of the Year award has already seen the Millers scoop a regional prize, with the club coming out on top in the North East and Yorkshire category.

The Trust won the award back in 2012 and are looking to scoop the prize again when the winners are announced at a gala ceremony on Sunday 17th April in Manchester.
