Joe Mattock talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Joe Mattock will be looking to haunt his former employers as he heads back to S6 for the first time tomorrow.

The former Sheffield Wednesday defender joined the Millers during the close season and has been a consistent performer making the left-back position his own.

Alongside fellow defender Richard Wood, Mattock is set to return to his old stomping ground, and he is relishing the prospect of the red hot Hillsborough atmosphere.

“It is a big environment to play in; the crowd will play a part because it is a local derby so it should be a great occasion,” he told www.themillers.co.uk

“A home win last time out was really important for us. The lads are going into this game with some confidence now, we know it is a tough place to go and get a result but we are really looking forward to it.”

The 25-year-old former England under 21 international enjoyed a three-year stint with the Owls between 2012 and 2015.

Whilst acknowledging that the Millers face a tough task against the high-flying Owls, the ex-West Brom and Leicester ace is confident of a favourable result.

“I feel that I can go back there and prove a point, and if we can come away with the three points then all the better,” he added.

“We know with the players that they have it will be a tough task.

“I think that we just need to concentrate on our own game, we know what we can do and we have been working on stuff all week.

“We have some really good players here, we have good depth to the squad so we are hoping that we stick to the plan on Saturday and come away with a result.

“It is a big Yorkshire derby. The more you play in these types of games the more you become accustomed to the environment. Preparation plays a big part in things, we will be staying focused and the main objective is to get the points.”

There will be a full commentary on tomorrow’s South Yorkshire derby on Millers Player HD.
