Alan Stubbs talks to www.themillers.co.uk...
Alan Stubbs is expecting a tough test from League Two side Morecambe after being handed a home tie against the Shrimps in the first round of the EFL Cup.
The Millers will play host to Jim Bentley’s side at AESSEAL New York Stadium on the week commencing August 8th, following this afternoon’s draw.
It will be back-to-back home games to kick off the 2016/17 campaign for the Millers, after the release of the Sky Bet Championship fixtures this morning paired Stubbs’ side with Wolves on August 6th.
“The most important thing is that we are at home,” Stubbs told www.themillers.co.uk
“All games at this stage are going to be tough. Morecambe will be coming here with nothing to lose, and they will see us a potential scalp. We have to make sure that we approach it right, and try and get ourselves into the next round.
“We will approach it like every other game because we want to progress as far as we can in the competition, and that goes for all the competitions that we are involved in.”
The match will see the first meeting between the two clubs since the 2012/13 season when both sides were in League Two.
The last time Morecambe made the visit to the AESSEAL New York Stadium, the Millers came out on top after two Daniel Nardiello goals earned the hosts a 2-1 victory.
