Alan Stubbs discusses pre-season with

Rotherham United boss Alan Stubbs says the club are close to finalising their pre-season plans as work continues on preparations ahead of the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

The Millers have already added a home date against Premier League club Sunderland a trip to Grimsby Town and their annual fixture against Parkgate to the diary and Stubbs explains that the club are close to adding further names to their pre-season calendar.

“Behind the scenes we are working very hard to confirm all the dates,” Stubbs told

“We’ve managed to confirm a few and there are one or two others that are virtually done and ready to announce.”

Stubbs’ men will also take in a pre-season tour ahead of the opening day of the new second tier season and the Millers’ boss admits the club are not too far away from making those plans concrete.

“We are getting to the final bits of paperwork with our pre-season tour as well and I think those dates will be announced imminently to be honest,” he added.

“It’s an important time for myself to get to know the players and for them to get to know me and my staff, but most importantly we need to get the players ready and in fantastic shape for the start of the season."
