Alan Stubbs talks to

Alan Stubbs has reiterated that Rotherham United must sign the right players, as he gives assurances that the hard work on adding to his squad continues behind the scenes.

Stubbs has added Anthony Forde and Lewis Price to his squad during the close season, with work continuing to bring some quality additions to the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The Millers manager has again stressed that he won’t sign players for the sake of it, as he looks for the right faces to take the club forward.
“I can assure everybody that we are working really hard to bring in the right type of people to the football club,” Stubbs explained to

“As I have said all along I don’t just want to bring numbers here, anyone can do that. I want to try and bring quality, we do need to add numbers but those numbers do have to have the right standard in order for us to try and move the club on. It is much easier to do it if you have real quality at your disposal and that’s what we are trying to do.

“We are all aware that we need to bring players in, but there is a good core of first team players here that I am happy with. But everybody knows and sees that we need to add some strength in depth to the squad.”

Stubbs again confirmed that players have been earmarked and clubs have been spoken to about potential new recruits, and he expects to hear the outcome of those discussions shortly.

“I thought we were close last week so I am not tempting fate with this,” he added.

“We have identified players, we are waiting to hear back from clubs now so watch this space. I don’t really want to say too much but we are getting towards the stages now where we are very close to hearing back from those clubs, and what they are deciding to with some of their players.”
