Kirk Broadfoot talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United defender Kirk Broadfoot says he and his Rotherham United teammates are edging closer to full fitness ahead of the kick off of the 2016/17 campaign.

The Millers are well into their pre-season calendar now having enjoyed a trip to Poland on top of outings against Parkgate and Sunderland on home soil and the former Rangers defender is happy with how things are progressing.

“I don’t think we’re right there but we’re getting there now,” Broadfoot told www.themillers.co.uk.

“I think pre-season is crucial for getting that base for the rest of the season.

“At this stage of the season it’s not really about getting results, it’s about getting minutes under our belts.”

Alan Stubbs leads his side to Glanford Park this evening where they will face another test against Scunthorpe United and Broadfoot admits the game time has been beneficial in adapting to the new manager’s philosophies.

“It’s also good for getting the style of play that we want to play and you’ve seen that the manager has given us a different style and its all about getting to learn that and the players getting to know it,” he continued.

“It’s been a hard few days with Spurs on Thursday away in London and then we travelled up and played against a good Sunderland side and its good to get two hard 90 minutes into the legs.

“It’s been different and as I say there’s a different style of play and different training so it’s been very good. He’s easy to work with as well and that always helps."
