Alan Stubbs says Lee Camp will start the friendly on Friday night...

Goalkeeper Lee Camp will play in the friendly with Gornik Zabrze this Friday, confirmed manager Alan Stubbs.

Whilst the majority of Stubbs’ squad enjoyed a day of down time, Camp alongside his fellow ‘keepers were put through a session yesterdat morning by goalkeeper coach Andy Dibble.

The Millers Player of the Year sat out of Tuesday’s friendly, whilst the manager and his staff watched over a trialist, but Stubbs confirmed today that Camp will be back between the sticks for Friday’s showdown.

“Keepers are different and they're a different breed to the outfield players,” Stubbs told www.themillers.co.uk

“They can be very much routine people and Campy will play on Friday. I thought rather than give him 15 minutes it was a good opportunity to give Laurence some game time but Campy is Campy, and I know he likes to play but we've got to make sure he's right for the start of the season.”

Stubbs is also looking to get minutes into a raft of other players, including the likes of Danny Ward and Joe Mattock who have been rested as a precaution, as Stubbs explained:

“We will get minutes into them but the most important thing is that they're not pushing themselves to the point that a little bit of muscle soreness turns into a strain, and we've tried to be a little bit careful of that.

“It has literally been a little bit of muscle soreness and fatigue and they have missed two days and because of that they're able to join in with full training tomorrow.

“The players are the best judges of it and they have to be honest and if they are feeling anything then I would much prefer them to miss one day than one week and they have to be sensible with it."
