Rotherham United have signed Chris Burke on loan from Nottingham Forest...

Rotherham United have completed the loan signing of winger Chris Burke on a deal until the end of the season.

The Scottish international joins the Millers from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest after completing his move at AESSEAL New York Stadium this afternoon.

Burke is the second signing in as many days after the Millers completed a swoop for striker Luciano Becchio yesterday.

The move gives Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn further attacking options from wide areas, with Burke boasting a proven track record at Championship level.

“Chris is a very experienced player and he knows the level,” Redfearn explained to www.themillers.co.uk

“He has got that turn of pace, the ability to go past people to create and score.

“He adds good competition and he adds some real Championship quality that perhaps we have been lacking a little at times.”

Redfearn revealed that the arrival of Burke will give him the option to switch Tottenham Hotspur loanee Grant Ward, whilst he expects Burke’s vast knowledge of the division to help the younger members of his squad.

Redfearn continued:

“He is a really good signing for us, he gives us balance on the right side which frees young Grant Ward up to play more centrally.

“That Championship experience will prove invaluable because we have got ourselves into a position when we are playing well, but we need to keep picking points up and start turning good performances away from home into results.

“The more experienced guys you have around the place to help the younger lads then the stronger you will become.”

Glasgow-born Burke started his career with Rangers making over 100 appearances before moving south in 2009.

He joined Cardiff City where he again featured over 100 times in a two-year stint with the Bluebirds.

He stayed in The Championship switching to England to sign for Birmingham City and he helped the Blues to the Play-off final in 2012, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.

After three years at St. Andrew’s he joined Nottingham Forest in 2014 and featured regularly at City Ground, before penning his first loan move of his career with the Millers.

Burke is a full Scotland international making his debut in 2006. He has won seven caps, scoring two goals.
